It's almost that time of year! Bluebonnets,Indian Paintbrushes, Indian Blankets, Coreopsis, Black-eyed Susans are among the many that begin to grace the great state of Texas in the early through late spring. The season is fleeting and this March I am already half booked for the month! (Here's a more comprehensive list: http://www.texashighways.com/index.php/component/content/article/38-outdoors/5771-30-wildflowers)
I am offering for just $200 a full two hour session outdoors, 10 edited images, creative consultation, and all of your images available for print ordering in a private web folder! *(Not applicable for commercial use. Must give a deposit when booking, usually during consultation.)
I already have a Waterhouse style shoot planned, Lady Madonna and child, Dallas skyline, naked Russian Tea, and several more. That's what I do, custom portraiture. I don't offer 'sets' because I want each session to be completely unique and tell it's own story. Every piece custom, adventurous, and telling.
I would also love to make it to Tulsa, Austin, and where ever else my little Honda can take me. I will travel, I just need an excuse!
Hire me so I can create beautiful images for you that last a lifetime! :))

So for a long time, I've been trying to figure out exactly what to fill my blog with and while I was making my favorite quick and easy kale snack yesterday it dawned on me-food! For almost all of my 20's I worked in the restaurant industry. I waited tables, bartended, trained employees, wore those stupid 'flair' pins, worked as 'rice bitch' and sushi chef. And while I wasn't the best at any of these things I did take away some killer knife skills and a highly distinct and a developed palate for fine food and wine. So here it is, my inaugral food blog.
I cook everyday, I try to keep it healthy and I am on a budget with two kids who are as tall or taller than I!
Ok, my quick and easy kale:
(If you didn't know, kale is one of the most nutrient dense greens out there.)
I don't use measurements on food like this because it's all by tasting. So, I'm guesstimating.
You will need these things:

Fresh kale, ponzu(which is a citrus soy sauce but be warned if you're watching your sodium you may want to opt for the low sodium versions), sesame oil, a knife, maybe some lemon.
Chop as much kale as you think you'll need. In my case, I used 2 cups or so, because when you cook the greens, they will shrink and wilt a bit.
On a med high heat add a slick of sesame oil, enough to coat the bottom of the pan. I don't let mine get too hot, but I do like to hear a nice sizzle when the greens lit the oil. I add all of the chopped greens at once. Since heat causes nutrient loss, I sautee until they are just wilted and still a bit crispy all the while adding the ponzu to taste.

You can see the kale on the bottom of the pan is almost just right. Mmmmm.
I finish with a squeeze of lemon and garnish with some sesame seeds.
That's it. In about 5-10 mins have a healthy and flavorful snack or side dish.

Since I was 13 years old, I have smoked cigarettes. They were there for me through every event in my half grown and adult life. Three weeks ago, I quit. For the first time, I am without my life long friend and while I do have more energy and I feel better and even my skin looks better, I still think of my friend every day. But, I am not one without resolve. I am moving forward and part of that is growing my photography business.
I will be having specials monthly and driving my friends and family crazy begging for support.
I will be independent and completely so.
I recently discovered that I do actually enjoy shooting children and babies. I have fallen IN LOVE with custom pet photography. Having two awesome pets helps a lot.
I would love to come back out to Midland to continue my Pump Jack Princess series, too.
I went home to Midland for Christmas and while my family doesn't celebrate, I did some celebrating of my own and some pet photos of my sister and her babies.

I got to see one of my dearest friends whom I haven't seen in about a decade. She has a bright and beautiful soul. We spent until the wee hours of the morning in my mother's crazy room that is jam packed full of antiques and strange artifacts of the past drinking wine and reminiscing about the past. I wish she were closer, but she is in Portland and I'll take her when I can.

My dog, Dasha, the guardian.

Another old friend, Jessica and her son. We also spent into the wee hours of the morning...something about a fake gay club and the rest is hazy. :)

And I also got to spend some time with a new friend, Shelly. We went to High School together but only connected a few months ago here in Dallas. We've grown close and I'm so happy to have found her.

Hey everyone!
It's been a while since my last blog post. Still working hard and heavy on my book and waiting to shoot one more girl when she gets back from Russia.
In the meantime, I've been accepted for the RawArtists.org December show. You do have to buy a ticket and it's only $10. It's $20 at the door, so get em while they're hot. :) I will also be producing some brand new, never before seen pieces for this show!
Here is a direct link to my raw profile to come and support. http://www.rawartists.org/thievingmagpie
I will also be doing my first ever full body paint in the Blue Room at the girlShow through ArtLoveMagic.

ArtLoveMagic shows are well, magical. We'll be painting live for everyone to see and then they will perform something magical. :)
I am also going to be in Tulsa, if you hadn't heard, the 26th&27th of this month. I am honoring my $175 special and you can book your spot by first, contacting me and second putting down a deposit. I can't tell you how disappointing it was to travel to Tulsa last time to only have half of the girls flake out. If you put down a deposit, it lets me know that you're serious and that my time won't be wasted driving all those miles. :)
Thanks for stopping by! Be creative and live in the present!

I am calling on you to help get my funding under way for this many years long dream on kickstarter.com.
Funding ranges from $1-$1000! If you gimme more than $10, you get a tangible reward (like prints and postcards). The goal to reach in 30 days is $4,000! That's a lot of bones. But after food, trains, planes, and automobiles it's going to cost a pretty penny. I have a brief capture of costs associated with this and the prints alone will cost around $1000..
I have wanted to do a meaningful Russia-based art project for many years now.. and since I have found myself unemployed there is no better time than now.
The end result will be giant, life-sized prints hung in a gallery (with any luck and my art connections here in Dallas).
Even if you're broke, you can drop $1 and I will be forever greatful.
If you believe in me, in my work then please forward this onto your friends.
If you do back me by $10 or more, please feel free to submit to me particular requests. As I intend to travel by train to St Petersburg and the surrounding villages in Moscow and even further out. If I raise more money than I need, I would also like to head to other parts of the former Soviet Union and explore this even further.
I feel like this is my all or nothing chance to leave my mark on the world and leave behind some history and thought provoking art.
I only have 30 days and the clock is ticking! :))
Please help me make and preserve history.
Please come help me fund my project here:
